Examining the etiology of early-onset breast cancer in the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow’s Health (CanPath)

The incidence of breast cancer in women under age 50 is rising, yet the cause of this remains unknown. Approved in early 2020, a matched case-control study using data from 3 cohorts of the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow’s Health (CanPath), the Ontario Health Study, the BC Generations Project, and Alberta’s Tomorrow Project was published in the journal Cancer Causes & Control, concluding that measures of adiposity, pregnancy history, and family history of breast cancer are important risk factors for early-onset breast cancer.
